No. 1920 Cipher. M.O. lb. During the continuance of the war it has been decided to leave only the 36th Sikhs to garrison Tientsin and to place them in your Command, the Commander, Staff and the remainder of the North China troops being with- drawn. The instructions as to how this change is to be carried into effect will follow later. It is desirable that you should give latitude to the Officer Commanding at Tient- sin, when he comes under your Command, as there are many matters which have to be arranged personally with H.M.
